Bucket of Things I Want To Do

The movie, The Bucket List, doesn't exactly have a "happy" ending. The characters, Edward and Carter, cancer-ward patients, decide to go out in style when they get the bad news. They compose a bucket list - things to do before they kick the bucket.

As I'm not planning on going anywhere for a very long time, mine isn't so much a list as it is a bucket of things I want to do and accomplish. Because I've got another 40 - 50 years in me, I figure I'll need a bucket of stuff to keep me busy.

By definition, a list is a series of names, words, or other items written, printed, or imagined one after the other. I can't help but look at a list and think that the item at the top is "first". In my bucket of things to do, there is only a last - Live to be at least 100 years old - everything else comes sometime before. So, in no particular order, what follows is in the bucket so far.

Stay in the WPA-built lodge of each US National Park.
(Old Faithful Inn, Yellowstone - Done)
Travel the US and Canada by automobile towing a pop-up camper trailer.
Grow or produce as much of my own food as possible.
Learn to make wine.
Master the art of making bread.
Make really good pie crust from scratch.
Write a book.
Buy a bicycle and use it often.
See the Northern Lights.
See Europe from a cruise ship.
Alaskan cruise.
Live, full- or part-time, within walking distance of a body of water.
Lots of great big family gatherings.
See my name published in the quilting world.
Achieve status as national award winning quilter.
Go fishing, catch fish and eat them.
#Last - Live to be at least 100 years old.
