Sad news came today. Ken saw someone downtown and was told that one of our friends had died. We knew her because our kids went to school together. I'm pretty sure she was quite a few years younger than I. Cause of death? Massive stroke.
We should all remember this woman because she was one of us. Moms devoted to children, their own and of others. A working mom with a good job, a nice husband, a nice mom, and a nice dad. She loved and cared for her family members. They are a very tight, close knit family.
She volunteered whenever she was needed. We could rely on her. She helped at our kids' schools, Girl Scouts, Carousel Fund, and gymnastics programs are the ones I knew about. There were probably others.
Her child was her princess girl and the two of them always did things together. Her daughter grew up without want but I think her mom tried to teach her to be humble. We all knew there was some "diva" in both of them, though. They were fun to watch; and, better to know them than demanding divas.
Her kid gave her grief just like ours did (and still do), especially after puberty. She loved to talk to us about what was going on with our kids and we loved to ask what was going on with her daughter. There were times though, when she would roll her eyes and shrug her shoulders. The same way we do when we aren't quite sure what our kid is up to and not for lack of trying.
She leaves behind her beautiful daughter, her husband, her father, her devoted mother, and the very many of us she touched in one way or the other.
Sadly, this peach of a gal left us very suddenly and much too soon. There, but for the grace of God, go you or I. Count your blessings and think of new angel, Corey. I'm really going to miss seeing her smiling face around town.
